Please join our association and keep the preservation fund healthy!
We are as efficient as possible with the use of your Association budget; all board members, water testers, road clean-up crews and buoy maintainers are unpaid volunteers.
Our big-ticket planning item in the annual budget for the Serpent Lake Association is the planned $15,000-$30,000 per year to treat the one invasive species we can fight, which is curly leaf pondweed. The consequence of not treating this weed every year would be unnavigable waters caused by weed-mats and loss of property values around the lake. We also carry a long-term liability of having to re-treat Cranberry Lake with a follow-on alum treatment, estimated to be over $70,000 in the next ten years.
We very much appreciate those members contributing over and above their dues to the Serpent Lake Preservation Fund because it is this fund with which we cover the weed control cost, water testing lab fees and keeping Cranberry Lake from hurting Serpent’s waters. We highly encourage those property owners who are not members to join, pay the dues (all paid members will receive the new 2021 Serpent Lake Directory) and make a contribution to the preservation fund to keep our water as clear and weed-managed as possible!
