Preventing the Spread of Aquatic Invasive Species
Recommended preventive practice includes the following:
Drain water from boat, motor, live well, bilge and bait containers. Travel with your boat’s drain plug removed.
Remove any plant parts or mud from all watercraft, as well as motor or trailer surfaces.
Don’t retain live bait in water from an infested lake [prohibited by state law, whether infested or not].
When possible, rinse watercraft and trailer with high-pressure water spray, or hot water of at least 140 degrees.
Avoid launching a watercraft in a different lake without drying for at least five (5) days after boating on infested waters.
By law, boat lifts and docks must be air-dried for at least 21 days before being transferred to another body of water.
