Why We Treat for Curly Leaf Pondweed
Every Spring, Serpent Lake is treated with Aquathol K to control the invasive species called Curly Leaf Pondweed. It is the largest expense of the Serpent Lake Association. We spend between $15,000 to $20,000 annually to treat up to the permitted 50 acres. Our major funding source that is necessary to treat Curly Leaf is from our association members. One Twin Cities lake is now facing drastic measures to deal with the infestation of Curly Leaf. Read the article below for more information:
Obviously, Serpent Lake has much different characteristics than Normandale. However, Curly Leaf Pondweed needs our attention. Please consider an additional donation to the Serpent Lake Preservation Fund. The Lake Association Board tries to maintain funding for the current year of treatment, plus one additional year.
